Chris in a few words
I am mechanical engineer with over 30 years hands on experience designing, developing machining fabricating and commisioning equimpment. Primarily for research and development but also medical class 2 equipment and industrial laser systems. I have extensive knowledge and experience working with reaction systems for high/low (vaccum) to design and build whilst operating at extremes of temperature with a variety of media, plasma through to solids, passive through to explosive and abrasive to delicate.
I work with you to define your needs and a requirements specification, identify safety and materials needs. From there we develop proof of concept designs and follwo through to prototyping. With itterative rounds of development we can then push the design to low volume or high volume design and deployment.
I can work with you at all stages of design to meet your needs.

    April 2022 - Today (2 years and 7 months)
I am an apprentice trained precision mechanical engineer. I have extensive practical designing & manufacturing (machining, welding and fabrication) experience on a range of materials, predominantly stainless steels, light alloys, plastics and ceramics for research, development pilot plant and production applications. I spent over 25 years at the University of York designing and manufacturing systems and parts for bespoke applications; vacuum through to high pressure service, cryogenic through to high temperature applications and chemical mixing through to containment of varying media including explosive, poisonous, corrosive solids/liquids/gases/plasma under varying conditions. Along with varying processing techniques which include continuous flow, batch and parallel techniques along with radiation; microwave, X-ray, UV, IR and visible light. During this time gaining a MSc 'Advanced Engineering Materials' and registering as CEng with the engineering council. I then spent 3 years with a spin-out to design and build class II medical imaging device along with peripherals with ultra low noise requirements and the last 2 1/2 years I have continued working with class IV industrial laser systems, designing for manufacture and production.
