- University of ZurichResearcher PHD Student in Evolutionary BiologyRESEARCHSeptember 2012 - July 2017 (4 years and 10 months)zurich, SuisseEvolutionary biology - Evolution of Life Histories in Birds - Comparative analysis on the reproductive strategies and survival – relationship with ecology, social system and life histories I investigated behavioural traits related to reproductive strategies and their diversity among species and the variation in age-specific survival both inter- and intra-specifically. I carried 5 fieldwork seasons running 4 different experiments on 12 different species during which I managed teams of 3 to 5 assistants. - I investigated the relationship between AFR and average lifetime reproductive success (LRS) across 34 bird species using generalized linear mixed model approach in a model selection framework for the analyses, with further control for similarity in phenotype among taxa due to a shared phylogenetic history. - I assessed the change in nest visitation rate relative to the change in the control treatment and investigated how this was affected by life-history (lifespan), ecology (re-nesting potential, nest type, nest predation rate), and social factors (post-fledging parent-offspring association time) in 12 bird species by using a model selection and averaging approach. - I carried the first comparative study investigating the life-history, ecological and social correlates of juvenile survival, longevity and their combinations in 204 bird species using phylogenetic controlled linear mixed models. - I assessed the causes of mortality for 371 radio tagged Siberian jays and how social, individual and environmental factors influence mortality using survival analysis via Cox proportional hazards models.
